Proactive chat triggers that help instead of annoy
When to open the chat for a visitor, what to say, and which pages deserve a nudge.

A proactive message is a salesperson saying hello. Done well it's helpful; done badly it's a pop-up.
Pick pages with intent
- Pricing and plan comparison pages.
- Checkout and cart.
- Complex product pages with size or compatibility questions.
- Your contact page.
Wait long enough
A time-on-page trigger of 20 to 45 seconds catches visitors who are reading carefully, not those who are just passing through.
Write like a person
"Questions about plans? I can help." beats "Hello! How may I assist you today?" Short, specific, and relevant to the page.
Measure and prune
If a trigger starts conversations that go nowhere, change the message or remove it. Fewer, better triggers win.
